A Happening in Recife

One of the most interesting events that took place in Recife, PE, city was held last night at "Marco Zero" (Jan 31) downtown. In commemoration of the last The Beatles out door concert taken in January 30, 1970 at the roof top of one of the Apple Offices in London.

Known by all The Beatles fan as "The Roof Top Concert", moment when the most famous rock and roll band was in studio to record the LP Let It Be, and the film of the same name, and in an amazing idea of theirs members, they decided to go together to the Apple Office roof in plain London downtown to perform one of the most remarkable records of the band being named later on as: "Let It Be".

Without any information to the press, John, Paul, Ringo and George, started that'd be their last performance alive. Soon they were singing songs like "I've got a Feeling", Don't Let Me Down", "For your Blues" songs in a number of just five that made part and were included in the film.

This became the most conceptual happening ever played by the band, that in the last years of 60's have made up their minds to stop to presenting themselves alive. During the event the band joined lots of Londoneers that were passing by going to their work and, surpringly, simply just couldn't believe on what they're seeing: The Beatles playing nice songs and as if they as they were in the beginning of their careers.

After almost four decades of the event many countries decided to organize shows in order to have Beatles descendent and/or cover bands. So, countries like England, Brazil (Recife), USA (NY), Paris, and not so far, the UN, were contacted in order to share and to promote a world wide commemoration of the event under peace concepts. Unfortunately, thewy were contated very soon. Very probably that in the next year, many peace organizations can promote such event as a big and broadcasted event with funds being donated to wild poor children in underdeveloped countries.

But, unfortunately the show couldn't go far. Some of the managers called to the Police because of the noise. They justified their action due to the fact that some of then didn't believe that who were up on the roof were the Fab - 04! Even though , this moment became recorded forever and soon started a film produced by EMI, and having the Director Phil Spector as the Producer being right after in all theathers of the world.

The record of the same name also became as famous as the film, despite Paul McCartney and John Lennon didn't give too much time and attention of their geniuses being produced at that time. The film now is a Beatle and pop culture rarety. And just the CD can be found in all record stores for the happiness of the most famous rock'n'rol band fans ever since!

Yours,

Marco Valois
